Default AlanB's Chicken Coop Moving

So, as we are settling into our house, my wife, who always swore she never wanted to deal with animals, uhhhhmmmm now wants animals.

She grew up on a German farm so has the experience, which leads to why she did not want them. That said, it is an entirely different perspective having a couple ducks walking around, to having a full farm of animals that are your livelyhood.

Anyway, we have ducks, and a rabbit, and some chickens, and got some laying hens, and now have some guineas. But she wanted something bigger than the 5 gallon buckets for the chickens to lay in, they did not seem to like going in them.

So I need to build some coop boxes.

So I call my Buddy Doug, who built a really nice coop for his daughter when she did the 4H thing, and I know he reasearched it etc. so I figured he had the stats on what to build.

He says, have I got a deal for you..

He was about to drag his coop too the burn pile to make more hay storage area, and if I wanted it, I just had to pick it up. So, I said, WHAT, No delivery,, here I am doing you a favor.

So, Sunday SWMBO and I went off on a quest to acquire a coop. I am not as organized as Eddie though so I did not bring a camera, and to be honest I was running a come along, which precludes much camera work.

So it sat on the trailer Sunday night, and Monday after work we off loaded it too it's new happy home. Next we just have to make an outside cage thing too keep the small birds from getting away.

4" PVC pipe rollers, spud bars, an occasional 4 X 4, Ramps, pulleys and chainhoists (sounds like a Jim Croce Song) and away we went.

Coop is 8' X 8' and about that high.

The price was right

Will try and follow up as we get the fence done around it, but the guineas are making it their home now, and I think the laying hens are moving in today.
