Default Another use for FEL - body work

We are restoring a 1949 Willys jeep. We are now putting it back together and needed to place the tub on the frame. This is normally at least a four person job to lift the tub high to be able to slide down the steering column and to tilt it to clear the transmission and transfer case shifters. We were a couple of human bodies short, so we used the tractor instead.

I had put a HF QA on a FEL plate and attached a short boom pole to it. We added some web straps and we had the perfect tub installation tool.

Just another reason to have a FEL!

I like your jeep. I drive 86 CJ7 but I always wished for a flatfender or M715 or M38A1 or....

Nice use of the tractor. Most fellows who have used their tractor for body work usually include an "Oops" I didn't think the { attachment} stuck out that far.

Are you going to update us on the jeep restoration Please??

Just as an aside and interest point in the late 40's a neighbour used a jeep for ploughing.

We are working on an update. Lots to report. I'll include the 1-16 plow we picked up to use with the jeep. In theory we should be able to pull it or a 2-12.

looks real nice! Here is a picture of my 1946 willys project. If I ever find time. The frame, body, and engine have matching numbers but the original column shift transmission has been replaced.

Great looking jeep. I really want to return my 79 CJ7 to "daily driver" status. Maybe in a couple of years.

I wonder how many jeep owners we have on TBN?

That is an amazing speciman! I think there is a good chance that you will be able to find the parts to restore it to a column shift. You might start looking now.

Farm Jeep has been updated, including information on another 3 point lift.
