I apologize guys. Life's been full lately.

The barn project has been going along slowly. The weather's been a factor. A couple of weeks ago we had 8.9 inches of rain is six days. It finally got dry enough for me to work on it today, I've been there all week. We got rain early in the week and they're saying we're going to get another two inches tonight through early tomorrow.

When I can't work on the barn I'm fixing tractor stuff, trailer stuff, electrical stuff installation, air line stuff installation, all of this in existing barns.

Stuck with a laptop and NPR (my choice) in the evenings I've started a novel. Who woulda thunk? We've got a domain name and a server, now all I have to do is figure out how to put it all together.

The biggest hiccup in the get up is I am having real problems with the web stuff. Bobby's been a big help, big help. But as you know Leo passed away three years ago March and harveylacey.com hasn't been touched since before that. I'm wanting to redo that plus I want to put the novel online on its own site.

My vision for the novel is to have it online and free. Free because I don't think I have the the stuff novels are made of. I think that's like winning the lottery to get one published. What I would like to have is thumbnails and hyperlinks so that the reader can click and see more, think of a dvd movie with the outakes etc.

It looks we were denied the patent on the building brackets. In my opinion my good idea found itself between a lawyer who no capiche construction and an examiner that if he pulled his head out might see what the light of day is. It's a real disappointment.

I'm home early this week because Lucy has some electrical issues. This morning she went dead as I worked. I wasn't surprised because her three batteries were almost seven years old and had never given me any heartache. I figured I was on borrowed time anyways. When I had them tested one was very bad, one was just bad, and one was close to being bad. I got three new batteries installed and in the afternoon she went dead again. I went looking for the short and the alternator was too hot to hold. So I guess I'll go get a new alternator in the morning.

I found some steel cutting blades for the worm drive circular saw at Home Depot of all places. They're working great for the thin stuff. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow.

The intention all along was to get the patent and then license it out.

We looked at having them made in China. At the time we could have packaged product here in Texas from China for a little more than it would cost us for just materials here. We were looking at a fifty thousand dollar investment up front though.

Glenda and me could make them and retail them through the internet. What I thought made it patentable, the clip locking mechanism, takes me about ten minutes each to make if I'm doing a big bunch of them. The dies to have for the punch press that would spit those pieces out is seventy five hundred dollars. That's just for the dies. It would take quite a bit of investment in time and money to try to market them.

Our thought was an existing company with a marketing and distribution network already in place could add the product to their line and it would take off like a rocket ship.

Oh well, life in the city when you're this close to the country.......

That sounds good Don. It's about Thereabouts, Texas. I already have a snake handler named Eddie penned in. I guess I could have a constable named Jim and his sidekick we could call Don. Of course Jim's wife would be called Karen and Don's would be Kathy so no one would know who I was talking about.....
