new project
started to build a fire pit to burn the slabs and cutoffs from my sawmill. I have filed for both a town and state permit, that will let me burn at will. Just a simple call to the fire dept to check on conditions. In this first picture two apple trees have been cut to give a start.

Re: new project
three hours of dozer work. most of the rocks popped right out. only one problem on the right, I think it might be ledge not a boulder. got a nice pile of top soil. I will post again after more work.

Re: new project
Interesting that your project has to be inspected by the fire marshal. Around here you first have to have an inspection by the building inspector then by the County groundwater runoff commission. They don't want you to put any silt in the salmon streams you know.

Re: new project
remember this is for me to have a place to burn my sawmill scraps. small excavations and changes to landscape don't require building permits. at my old place I had more open space, but here on the new farm the orchard was tight with trees so i decieded to create a place to burn. the permit will let me burn at will, after 6 pm with just a call to the fire dept as a check on conditions and a heads up in case they get a smoke or fire smell call from a neighbor.
