8 months later the pole building is finished!!!

I just finished nailing the last piece of trim for my pole building. Thought I would post the pictures since I used this forum frequently in the beginning phases of construction. I also thought some people may be interested in the approach I took for insulating and finishing the interior since there seem to be many questions regarding that topic. Please ignore the mess as I am still in the organizing phase moving equipment from one garage to the next. The bikes and tractor will hopefully be relocated to my other garage once it is clean and swept so that will free up much space. For the interior I used 1.5" foam insulation under OSB sheets. I found this to be easier and only cost slightly more then actually framing out the walls with 2x4's. For the ceiling I used plain drywall which will have R-13 fibreglass on top when the funds are acquired. I also decided to install a Hot Dawg 45,000 BTU furnace for the winter months. So far it is working beautifully. For anyone interested total cost between 10 and 11K. I will also post a few pics of the beginning of the project.

I agree with the others, the building looks very nice. Where do you live? I ask that because where I live we usually have 40+ days when the tmeperature falls below zero.

I live near Harrisburg PA. Usually doesn't get that cold around here...at most a couple nights below zero in the winter.

Nice job, and I almost feel silly for suggesting anything, but... The ceiling is the area most susceptible to heat loss, and therefore is the area that should have the highest R-Value. If you can get blown-in cellulose from Menards and borrow/rent their machine, I bet you'll get a higher R-Value for the dollar.

Thanks for the compliments. My original plan was to go with the blown in insulation which is cheaper anyhow...however, when I drywalled the ceiling I forgot to put those styrofoam channels between the trusses so now it seems that if I were to blow in insulation a lot of it would wind up falling out on the soffit. As far as the R-13 goes I am just trying to find middle ground between cost of insulation and wasting heat. I will only keep the temp slightly above freezing when it is not in use otherwise it will be around 60-70 when I am using the building. Perhaps I should do a more in depth cost analysis. It was funny looking through those photos since you get to see all four Pennsylvania seasons.

You're right, for occasional heating, you're smart not to go overboard. I'm sure when the time comes you'll put in what's best for your budget.
