Hi,
I'm putting in a driveway from a county road across a wet spot to a 57 acre hay field.
Question: how wide does the driveway have to be to accomodate hay harvesting machinery-- tractor w/bailer, hay wagons etc.?
Thanks,
Bob

12'-16' minimum, depending on the equipment you are using. The wider the road the easier access will be, and the longer the road will last.

Thanks,
I was given quotes for 12' and 17' (its over a seasonally wet area so I'm putting down Geotextile 140N) because the geotextile comes in 12 and 17 foot widths.
---So thanks fo the advice-- I'll go for the 17 wide driveway. It only costs me $600 more to get the extra five feet width (mainly gravel costs)
thanks,
Bob

17' will be much easier to get the hay wagon/truck/trailer in & out....good call on going bigger. It is a sickness of necessity...bigger tractor, bigger shop, bigger barn....and I am infected:ashamed:
