Default Busy Weekend

I only wish I could have found our digital camera to capture some of this…

We had a beautiful weekend here in the midwest and I got plenty of tractor time out of it. It all started Saturday morning. Our builder had left us two truckloads of topsoil to finish off the lawn prep around the house. Trouble is, the pile was on the wrong side of the house. I used some old lumber to protect the edges of the driveway and began moving/spreading the dirt across the drive and around the other side. Probably around 20 tons, 50 trips or so back and forth to the pile. Took a couple of hours just to move the stuff but I was smiling the whole time.

After it was moved I ran the box blade with rippers down to loosen everything up. Rippers up to get a final contour then switched to the rake to get everything smoothed. Even a bit of hand raking for that nostalgic touch. Down went the grass seed and once more with the rake to work it in a bit. Should be mowing in a month or so.

Then it’s time for the bush hog. I cut down all the overgrown weeds in the back parts of the property. What a difference that makes. We’re going to let the front part go natural for now anyway but want the back for recreating/gardening etc. Even staked out for a mini-barn and garden plot.

My final job was to run the rake over a large area that I had ripped up last fall with the box blade. This was an area that was compacted from construction traffic. It’s not going to be lawn, but I still want it reasonably smooth. Mission accomplished.

I cannot imagine trying to do any of this without the help of my mighty little 790. I’d still be filling wheel barrows full of topsoil by now if I had to do it by hand.

Call me a very satisfied CUT owner

Hey, Rob. It was a beautiful weekend. Too bad I was at work from 8-6 Saturday and 8-1 Sunday (special projects)

Glad you got some things accomplished. Supposed to be 70's by the weekend Can't wait to see some pictures of your place. Be sure to get some now before the grass starts growing.

I sat and watched it rain most of the weekend thinking about all the things I could have done outdoors. Ended up housecleaning!

We hit 80 this weekend here in California. Got a bit of tractor work in...but we've been in the 70s lately so I have had plenty of seat time .

On the other hand, it started to rain a day earlier than I thought it would, and we got a major wind. Blew a couple of doors that I had on sawhorses off onto the driveway, so now I have to re-paint them . Drawbacks to anything, I guess .
