Here are a few pictures of a CB&Q (owned buy IH) corn planter I restored. I painted it the original colors. I also made a new tounge out of spanish cedar. Some of the parts were sand blasted and the rest were cleaned with wire wheels/pads. I believe the date to be between 1915-1925 according to some archives I was reading. I had intended on using it but, I don'y want to get it dirty now :D

Great job!!! My mother was into antiques... with the attitude of that they should be used and not kept under glass. It's made it this long to be an antique... and most of her stuff out lived her. Get it dirty to give it some character

Looks wonderful! Wether you use it or not, you are helping to preserve a piece of our rural history. You are to be commended for that.

Thanks guys! I only have $200 into it and that includes the price of the planter. It was going to be scrapped so I saved it.

Really NICE!! I had an old single row corn planter similar to that. The guy we bought a place from used it for sprigging Bermuda (really slow way of doing it!)

Great "salvage" job:thumbsup:

What a good looking planter. Looking at the seed plate I'd say it drops several corn seeds at a time or is it for a larger seed?

Yeah that would be neat!

It would drop a few seeds out at a time because it was used for check row planting. The corn would be planted so the field could be cultivated in three directions. There are three different size plates that I have for it.
