Stump grinding price

I think you made the right decision. You didnt save any money, but if you are more comfortable with the second guy, then that is the person you should hire. Priceing isnt everything, if you cant like the person doing the work, then most likely you arent going to be satified with his work.

One thing I think a homeowner should take from this discussion is that every business isnt a legitimate business and this can open you, the homeowner, to all sort of liability issues. Anybody can purchase a piece of equipment and call themselfs a business, but not everybody that can run a business. Its not only the responsibility of a business owner to perform the work they are being hired to perform, but to also their responsibility toprotect their customers from haveing to pay for their costly mistakes and liabilities. Always ask if the company carries insurance, workerscomp on their employess, and general liability in the event something gets damaged. If they dont have these two things, for your own financial well being, dont let them near your property. Ask if they have a business license to insure they are working legitimately can can lawfully do the work you are wanting done. There are a lot of fly by nite individuals out there, some doing quality work, but let someone get hurt or they accidently do expensive damage to your property, and just see how long their business lasts and see who's left to pay for their screwups. Price isnt everything, but just be sure you know what you are getting for that super deal you are paying for..
