Been busy... Thought I would post this quick project.
Used 1000 litre water tote cage and all new robust hardwood pallet.

This will go on my forks as needed. Still have to braid rope and add hooks for safety.

Great idea ,
I just have a 2x4 screwed onto a pallet as a leaning post.
I only lift my son in law and there expendable.lol

hahaha! That made me laugh... good one. I had some scary set-ups. Search for my redneck solution for painting my house... always an enjoyable laugh.

Looks like the cage from Jurassic Park, should hold a human. Nice setup, I made my rail out of 2x4s and it's gotten pretty wobbly over time.

That will work, good job. I built my ML out of a Kioti crate frame I got FOC.

Looks nice.

My concerns would be:
1) operator error, if I were in the bucket and someone else operating the tractor (like my wife!). Things like hitting dump instead of lower the bucket, or too fast of lowering.

2) hydraulic failure (hose rupture) that would drop the boom.

I don't like walking under a raised bucket and being in one would be similarly dangerous.

I don't know if my concerns are overblown.

Ken,

May be a bit overblown... but I think of the two scenarios you presented often, plus others. I operate the lift only. I raise the lift to the designated position and use a ladder to get into the lift. Tractor is always running preventing loader drop. The height is roughly 12' I think. Lift is strapped to forks as well.

Really like the idea. If I can find a cage like that, I,m building one too. Thanks for the picture.
I need to trim some trees......

{I hate ladders}
Anytime we go up high there are risks. A ladder has to be the most dangerous unstable piece of equipment on the planet. Way more odds of failure when working off a ladder and even scaffolding then hydraulic failure(inmho). {I hate ladders} I have spent a lot of time up in my lift. Working by myself I climb up onto the rear tire, then to my steel roof then across and into the lift cage and never feel like I do on a ladder. I am not scared of heights but I do have "ladderphobia"? Did I mention I hate ladders?
