Clearing Recently Purchased Land

A few weeks ago, my wife and I bought 6.5 acres that we are going to build a home on. I'll post pics and videos on this thread.

I borrowed my father-in-laws Ford Utility tractor and brush hog to perform the initial clearing of small trees. I was able to take most small trees out with roots and all just by using the front-en-loader. I used my Kubota BX2350 to stack all of the brush. I then cut several dozen cedar trees with my Stihl 039 chainsaw. I will stack those tomorrow evening.

I hope you got the stumps flush with the ground when you cut the trees. Some of the worst damage I've had to equipment was when the bush hog front edge caught the top of a stump. The cutter flipped up vertical and bent the front edge of the cutter enough so that the blade hit it. When the cutter came crashing back down, it broke the deck where the tail wheel brace is located.

I will be stacking small cedars to burn. The larger ones will be saved for fence posts.

Wow that's a wild experience Ken! I cut them as low as possible without running the chain in the dirt.

The stumps are all less than 2" tall. I may grind them out or just leave them for a while. We won't be building for a few years. I just need to be able to brush hog a couple times per season.

Especially early spring when your getting spring fever. Then two months later its all over growing again. Looks good walker I kinda like those timelapse vids.
