I just used my Alaskan Sawmill for the first time. It worked better than I thought it would. My stihl 066 handled the task surprisingly well.

Yes, it is pine that has been dead a while. The dark areas are whats called "blue staining."

Cool! An 066 ought to breeze through pine.

Very nice. About how long does it take to make one cut?

I would love to get my hands on some pine like that..family hand crafts Weaving Looms and Spinning wheels..of late people are requesting unique wood grains. Just to purchase a wheel to have as an eye piece. Plus I hit that northern tool sale last weekend and picked up the smaller version of the Alaskan mill. Looking forward to using it on a log of black walnut I have

Just cut some Juniper (like Cedar) and surprisingly hard to cut compared to the pine. It took 3-5 mins to get through 8' of pine and 15 mins or so to get through the juniper. I am keeping a eye out for a vintage Stihl 090. Arguably the best Alaskan Mill saw made but they demand a premium price!!
