Should be forming for concrete today. Just a few more piece of trim left and will start finishing the inside.

Nice color combination. I have not seen that before. Very nice layout with the overhangs.

Very nice. That front porch is a great idea!!!!

How did they do the purlins to keep them from sagging over time?

I wondered too but I think the sheet steel and later osb on the interior should prevent it.

Concrete completed Saturday. Sorry, no pics of the actual pour I had to go plant 200# of seed potatoes.

The color combination matched the house as close as I could get it. I have charcoal colored mortar between the brick of the house and I wanted something to blend.

The porch part was my idea. Since the building is so close to the house I thought it would look better and I wanted to be able to raise the door and not worry about rain blowing in. I know some of the spring and summer showers will be nice to watch while I am working inside.

The purlins are held with the metal screwed on from the outside. The 2x6 will allow me to add a little insulation, frame between them with 2x4 before attaching the osb. Everyone I look at that these guys built did not have a problem with sagging and most were not finished on the inside.

Hunterridgefarm,

Can you share the name of your barn builder? There are at least 2 of us near Greenville, SC, that are shopping for barns and we like the looks and pricing for yours. Also, if you know other builders in the area, Western NC or Upstate SC, that we can contact, that would be helpful.

Thanks
