24 x 40 Pole Barn W/Carport Construction

Built a 24 x 40 x 10 pole barn with attic. I know I scoured the internet for information before building mine, So hopefully I can give back.

Now I think you owe us some explanations. How are the posts set - on piers? How did you come up with that winch/crane arrangement? Is the siding wood over metal? Looks very impressive but you just made me more curious.

6x6 sleeved posts are set on 8x16 concrete footings formed with construction tubing, transited level.

The siding is metal for the first 30" to prevent rot, then a z-flashing transition to t1-11 with battens for the remaining wall height.

The boom hoist is made from a 4x4 with a wheel barrow wheel bracketed to the end. I clamped this assembly to a bucket fork and supported it by ratchet straps to the upper corners of my bucket. Winch cable runs over the wheel to the load, and does all the hoisting from an elevated position.

I'v got about $22k in materials for the basic frame/siding/roof/windows/doors of the building (no concrete). I'v done all the work though.
