There is also something called "structural racking" where the uprights etc. are made from heavier channel. It is made from the get-go to be the building structure, whole warehouses are made with the stuff.

I was thinking more just some heavy racking two levels high, two implements wide (13 or so feet) and double depth, accessible from both sides, with a nice roof and pine board sides for outside storage. I found that it's great to have stuff on racking (in a building) , but getting to it is another matter! No need for a bucket to be inside, except to keep it from getting buried in snow.

In my barn, the rack itself would take up too much valuable floor space. Instead, I use a truck service lift to store implements. I can either take them down with forks or lower the rack to the floor. I can even park the tractor underneath.

I haven't priced lifts lately but when I installed mine, it wasn't much more than a steel racking system.

I ended up getting a 12’x12’x4’ pallet rack with 2 shelves off Craigslist for $500 or so. Allows me to store my snowplow, bucket, snowblower, rototiller, chipper, forks and a couple generators and a wood stove vertically.

I very frequently see industrial pallet racking for sale on local clist. Lots of flexibility there with overall height, rack spacing. Way less $, super strong, and ready to bolt together and use. A lot better and cheaper than anything I'd make on my own :)

This is an example: Pallet racking - Monroe NC - business/commercial - by owner - sale <$300 for six 9' locations 5' deep.

I was buying used pallet racking and discovered I can get new delivered for the same price. They are sold certified, un-damaged, un-repaired. If you have employees it isn't worth the headaches buying used.

I just built some wooden shelves to hold my attachments. I have the 3 point attachments on the ground and the front attachments on the shelves. I put a rollup tarp to keep them out of the weather.
