And this is how we handled compaction. In some cases this particular step will make the difference between a well made pond and a dam that continually seeps water. Plan for success because your pond will be with you for many years and so will a headache......

That's sure the best way to do it.

How high was your dam? With a key way that large, I figure they either do it that large because they can, or because of the size of the dam.

My blade is 12 feet wide on my dozer, so there's no way I was gonna make it that wide. I also don't have a compactor, nor can I afford one, so compaction would be impossible. I'd have to dig my key way 18 feet wide to cover all the ground with my tracks!!!!!!

I bet it was fun watching the experts work.

Eddie taking into consideration the depth of the key-way the total height was roughly 21 feet. These guys worked as a team and it was an orchestrated effort. It was a real pleasure to watch them work together. Never saw a wasted motion.

Dam now level with surrounding area the dozer's start scooping the clay and moving it toward the dam.
