She and our little Kubota B7200 built this terraced garden plot. All I did to help was bucket out 5 loads of clay, a bit of BH work to set the larger stones and mix up some manure and soil with the L39. My time was less than 3 hours. She did the rest, leaving me to focus on road building. Quite a hard worker!

Congratulations!! Your wife sounds like quite a woman!!!
I just love the look of dry stacked walls. They are timeless and will look amazing when she gets the garden going. Thanks for sharing, Eddie

Tired wife today. I was a nice guy and helped finish the lower wall.
I have a drainage line to tie into the ditch, then fill the ditch with rocks and spread Ledge pack over the area. |

Where the heck did you get all those rocks? Must have taken a reeeeeal long time to dig all them out. They look so symetrical it looks like you bought them.. Nicely done.

That is about 10 % of what got dug up so far from road building and land clearing. I have hired out heavy equipment, but my litte L-39 has moved about 1/3 of it. This week we will have a 120' x 50' x 8' deep area of ledged blasted for quarry rock for the road base through the swamp and level the area where the house will sit.
A geologist would have a field day at our place. Glaciiers left all sorts of rock, not just granite ledge. We are hoping we find a vein of gold, etc When we blast! Last edited by mike69440; 10-23-2006 at 10:20 PM. |

Lots of blasting.
I hope to sort or better yet have sorted the really nice rocks and sell what I do not use. ther rest will be used as roadbead.. I have a pit if Wetland to cross noe that I have the permit. I broke a line fitting on L39 Hoe as I was diggng trench for a culvert. Put an end to the trenching in a hurry. Could have been worse. |

This weekend we or should I say she were spent "horse sitting" the neighbors animals as well as my wife’s horse whom is cared usually by the neighbors when we are not at our land. Horse person or Cowboy I am not. Wannabe woodsman, maybe.
I observed taking care of 6 horses requires 2 to 2-1/2 hours per day. I had not part of this. That is what my wife considers the minimum attention they get. That's 2-1/2 hours, 365 days a year. Heck, you would have to give up watching TV, tractoring, hunting, fishing, boats, motorcycles, even watching TV if that's your thing! Even she remarked that that many animals is a lot of work. I figure one horse is more than enough. She is real happy to have a horse again. Got to keep her happy if I am to be happy. We probably spent the last night over in the camper, and worked on her garden before the rain and mud got too much. We did get that pile of loom in the photos spread. Unless it dries out it will not be until next year we get the road in. Next year we want to get pond in, our own electric service, and 2 wells drilled. If we are lucky, the footing and septic system also. Time will tell. Meanwhile I hope the neigbor finishes their barn/indoor rink so our barn does not have to be the "horse hotel" next winter. Our barn needs paint, some repair work and I will wire lights and power to the 2nd story loft. |

You're building yourself a nice piece of paradise there, Mark! Good job. You need to post some action shots of your wife at work, it's very impressive.
I love building with stone. We certainly have plenty to work with here in the Granite State. |
