I'm planning on buying a 40x60 metal building with a 16' eve with at 4/12 pitch. I'm trying to get a ballpark of what others have paid for:

Site prep - my site is pretty level with no trees and easy access
Concrete - 6" thick with rebar
40x60x16 with at 4/12 or 6/12 pitch
insulation package
one 12x14' rollup door
one 10x10' rollup door
2 regular entrance doors

Any info in part would be appreciated. If you assembled yours yourself, how hard was it? I am looking at an Olympia Steel Building. Anybody have feedback on their buildings?

here's mine -- 30X50 x12 on 4" slab with #3 rebar on 12" ( #5 bar in the footers and berms) - 20x50 leanto attached w/no slab -- 2 10x10 rollup doors, 1 personnel door, 2 windows, insulated .... I didn't turn a hand -- $32,950 ...... I really wanted a 40x60 -- but it busted the budget. the leanto has sides added now - they weren't done in this pic................
edit .... added other side view ....

my 32x60x12 wood truss pole barn

no concreet floor, no insulation 2 huge sliding doors (one front one side) and a man door.

free (with 4.5 acers and rundown house for $53K) :D

i was told to ballpark 15K if i wanted to build it... obiously concreet and insulation will add (significantly.... half again as much?) to that...

I have a Menards 45'x72'x12' pole barn put up 5 years ago. 12" overhang, wainscoting, 22' end sliding door, 10x12 roll up door on side, 2 walk in doors, 4 windows, with laminated poles and 8' rafters on center and 8 skylights. Paid about $16,000 for the building. $12,000 to put up. 1 year later put in 5-6" cement with rebar for $9,000 and my labor. Later built a heated shop area 24x24 inside and had building wired then. I am sure prices have gone up.
Also looked same size Cleary and Astro building erected for about $32,000-$35,000. Morton was approaching near $40,000 erected.

My brother had a 60x100x16 Astro pole barn with no windows, 2 walk in doors and 2 large end sliding doors, 10' center rafters and put up for about $60,000 2 years ago.

I put up a 40x50 pre-fab made by Heritage.
Heritage Building Systems | Steel Buildings, Prefabricated Metal Building
Walls were 12' at the side and 17' at the peak, roof pitch was increased to 3/12, wind resistance was bumped up to 115 mph, three 10x10 overhead doors, four windows, one entry door and 4" insulation in the walls & ceiling and gutters & leaders. Total cost including delivery was ~16,000.

Excavation required significant leveling of the site, digging for the foundation, backfilling & tamping. Cost was ~6,600.

Foundation included a footing, four foot high frost wall, all the anchor bolts and a 6" floor (everything rebarred, meshed & polished) 3500 psi. Cost of that was ~16,000

Erection of the building was done by me, my son and future son-in-law (both a mere 23 yoa) over an eight week period which excluded weekends and rainy days. I figured our total hours were ~750. Cost of slave labor (including beer) ~2,500.

I priced out having someone else erect it and it ran anywhere from 3.50 to 5.00 per square foot - my last quote was ~8,900 for my 2,000 sq ft building.

Putting the shell together was interesting and took about 150 hours. You'll run into some fitting issues but nothing that can't be handled using the old noodle. If you decide to do it yourself, I'd be happy to share my do and do not list with you. I learned a lot through my mistakes - I can save you some grief.

The guys at Heritage were very helpful, they make a quality product, and IF you carefully read their plans and booklet, you CAN do it yourself.

My 40 x 60 building was built in 2000 for about $22,000, plus about $10,000 for the slab. It has 14' walls and 4-pitch, a personnel door, an 18 x 12 door and a 10 x 12 door. Also has insulation and gutters. Its a weldup rather than kit.

Nice looking building Mike. Who did that one for you?
very local fella - like 4 miles away - he was trying to startup as a metal building contractor and do lots of commercial stuff etc .... but the last I heard he wasn't finding enough business to feed the family so went to work elsewhere. He still does it - cause I see he still has a sign out front - but I don't know how much he's still doing. I went with him cause after I met with him and his wife -- we liked 'em, they are neighbors, he was priced reasonable for a turn-key, and with a name like "Mike's Metal" how could I go wrong?

I don't know how far their crews travel, but Stoneburner out of Harrionburg Va. did a fantastic job building my 24' X 36' X 10' for about $16,000 including concret work, walkin door and two overhead doors.
