I've learned so much about barns from all your posts, I would like to share my experience with you and others who haven't started their barns yet. I would appreciate your feedback as I post the progress. This project is scheduled to be completed May 3rd.

The pole barn is going to be somewhat unique in that the overall dimensions are 40x72 with a 14 foot ceiling. One end will feature a "run-in" that will be 24 feet of the overall 72 feet. This leaves 40x48 enclosed. I also will have a shed roof on one side that will be 64 feet long and 16 feet out from the side.

These are webcam pics and the quality isn't the greatest but does allow an consistent perspective of the project. More tomorrow!

No sir! I wish. It's a Case 850H Long Track. It belongs to the builder. It can move some dirt!

Great start Keving. When are they going to build?.

Should have poles sticking out of the ground by the end of the week, weather permitting. Minor setback today, one of the workers didn't properly attach the quick-attach PHD and when they went to dig the first hole, it fell off the skidsteer and broke a hydraulic "T" fitting that is tough to find out here in WV. Rain is supposed to move in tomorrow afternoon. I hope mother nature cooperates.

Very nice start to what should be a fun and interesting thread!!!

Are you using a webcam to take pictures, or are you watching the progress on it? What size posts are you using to get 14 foot ceilings? Are they wood? I'm just curious what one of those sells for if you don't mind?

Thanks,
Eddie

Eddie, I'm using a webcam, it's a Sony RZ30N mounted on a pole up about 25 feet.

The posts are 18 foot 6"x6" PT. I'm paying a little over $40K. This includes 6/12 pitch, metal ceiling, insulation, concrete, doors, windows and more.

Here's some pics of the PHD in action and the cement delivery for the base of the holes. The posts get set tomorrow, weather permitting.
