| Re: Sad times are here for us Boil water in a pan and mix in grounds. Pour the contents through a paper filter into your cup and enjoy. I love coffee so much that I think I'd pour it through an old dirty sock if I had to.

Well, most of them will and what's a little grit with your caffeine?

| Re: Sad times are here for us That's why we have a French press.....it makes a good cup of coffee and serves as a fine backup for those 2-3 day periods between a coffemaker dying and the replacement arriving. There are also 2 and 1 cup presses. I have a 2 and a 1, work great. |

| Re: Sad times are here for us like the others said "cowboy coffee" boil in a pot, then take off fire, and add crushed egg shells from your breakfast. They'll filter the grounds and take out the bitter. Still a bit gritty -- but hey ..

| Re: Sad times are here for us You beat me to it I keep a french press for when I only want a cup of coffee.
I also have a stovetop espreso pot that work on the kitchen stove, camp stove, and even my backpacking MSR Whisperlite stove
I use my countertop espresso machine most every day though; I am a chocoholic, and must have my cafe mocha in the morning.
Funny, for my first 30 years, I did not like coffee; after having my first mocha, I started to drink coffee too. The last 14 years, there's always been some kind of coffee once or twice daily. Quote: |

| Re: Sad times are here for us I am a caffeine/coffee addict. One full 10 cup pot per day but no caffiene after noon. I actually drink caffeine free soda after noon. In bad situations such as when on a fishing trip or vacation or during some other emergency when coffee is not being brewed I have stooped to caffeinated soda pop for my fix. Without the fix I will be nursing a headache for sure.
You can buy coffee bags which are like tea bags but coffee. These work pretty well. Good for emergencies. Microwave the water in your cup.
Instant coffee granules are actually quite good and I keep some leaded and unleaded crystals on hand since sometimes even an evening cup of joe is good but I don't want the caffeine.
I have brewed gallons and gallons of cowboy coffee using the cold water trick (never heard of eggshells!!!) to drop the grounds to the bottom somewhat. Keep a close eye on a pot of water and grounds boiling. It will boil over and make a mess. Do this on a fire, rangetop, or even a hot woodstove.
This caffeine addiction is a weakness. I admit it. A weakness. But Oh so good.

| Re: Sad times are here for us For Boy Scout campouts, we have a Coleman drip coffee pot. We drink lots of coffee in camp It works on the stovetop; we use 3 burner campstoves. It would work on pretty much any stove, although I don't think it would heat well on an electric stove.
I think it is a 12 cup. Here is an article on it: Field Test of Coleman Camp Coffee Maker and Camp Shower Quote: |
