Dyson Vacuum cleaners

We have bought from them (ABC vacuum warehouse) about 4-5 years ago, and were well pleased with price, shipping time, and follow up on the few things we have needed. Didn't buy a Dyson though.

I liked the service also, the new vacuum arrived in a box that looked like it had been run over by the brown truck and when I unpacked what was left of the box, I found that the foot pedal that releases the handle from upright position was broken. I called ABC and although it should have been UPS claim, they sent me the new part in 4 days, and apologized for the inconvenience. Installing that part is how I found that I had installed the belt wrong on the old machine.

Since we are now commuting between two houses, we have at least two vacuums.

I really like the Dyson we have in Oregon, DW prefers the Oreck we have in CA.

It took me several hours of use to get used to the Dyson but I really like the way it doesn't use bags.

I could learn to live with either, but if you have any hair-shedding animals, the Dyson will save you a small fortune on bags. I also think the Dyson picks up more dust and filters it better, primarily because there is generally a large wad of dog hair in the canister.

After a years worth of use, I'm personally sold on the Dyson.

The vacuum cleaner has seen use at least once a week for the three floors. Have hardwood floors on the first floor and it really does work well. Usually use the wand feature to pick up the larger pieces of dog hair first, then use the vacuum to clean everything else up (and believe me when I say we can get some dog hair). Upstairs and basement have carpeting, and no complaints there as well (those two floors off limits for the dogs, so it's not as bad per dog hair). Will even load the vacuum cleaner in the truck and take it to the office and it works well on "industrial carpeting" that can see some heavy use.

Every once in a while I'll take the cleaner outside with the air hose and give it a good cleaning.

So far, no problem with any of the plastic parts.

I know warranties can be smoke screens, but per the form I have on file, it states "Your Dyson is covered for parts and labor for 5 years from the date of the purchase. If necessary, we'll arrange for your vacuum to be collected and repaired at no extra cost". Haven't had to use the warranty, but curious what will happen if I have to.

we purchased a Dyson Animal a couple years back after years of research and buying vacuum and vacuum in various degress of expense. Had a Kirby and shaved the impeller blades... cost to fix was out of this world... gave it to GoodWill. Had a Rainbow and gave it to my parents as they thought for sure thay could not live without it.

They came to visit last year when we bought the farm and have since purchased an Animal as well.

I have had absolute no issues with it. Nothing has broken and everything works perfectly. We have two long haired in-house Maine Coons and they seems to grow fur like Cudzu. The Dyson has absolutely no issues with it.

We vacuum in between with one of the latest Roomba's for pets... It is scheduled to run around once a day. I gets to that time and then heads off to go plug itself in for the next day. Although we like to watch it work once in a while and every time that we have company, they have to see the Roomba go.

Then they have to see the Scuba go as well (hardwood floow version of the Roomba). I am not as impressed with that as the cleaning fluid can pool slightly. But not enough to hurt anything, it is just a pain.

Overall, the Dyson is simply a joy. Hope that helps. When we moved here, we donated 3 top of the line Hoovers as well as an Orek to Goodwill...

We've gotten our moneys worth out of our old (14 years) Panasonic. It has outlasted our Golden Retriever.

It is getting harder to find the upright bags for it although Super Wally world is supposed to stock them.

My wife has used older Dyson and prefers the panasonic with bags but I'm not exactly sure why.

Anyhow, I highly recommend the panasonic.

Our Dyson Animal has to be close to 10 years old. No problems with it at all. The Dyson replaced a very good quality or at least expensive Kenmore that was on its last legs. I was concerned by the Dyson's plastic but nothing has broken which has really surprised me. Our floor is concrete so if a part of the Dyson gets dropped it is going to be a hard landing.

It certainly has saved us a fortune in bags.

BTW vacuums make real good wasp/bug collectors. If one flies into the house I use the Vacuum to "collect" said bug.
