Mis en Bouche

Oh I guess I don't know what dog fennel is.

It sounds like I'm the one who doesn't know what it is. Apparently it isn't even related to real fennel. It also looks like there are many different weeds that people call dog fennel.

Why didn't you dry those morels? It's killing me thinking that you wasted some.

Don't worry about that. We did not waste a single one. We ate them all fresh. They (whoever 'they' are) say that the dried ones are good but the fresh ones are best. So we just picked the ones that looked ready and ate them that very evening. Then we'd come back a few days later and eat the next batch the same day. None wasted. But alas, none dried for later use either.

I think next year I will try them in some good quality olive oil.:D

When a young lad on the farm we used to go out with milk pails to pick morels!:D:D

Egon-You sure were lucky look at the prices
Fresh Wild Mushrooms @ Earthy.com

I also love Chanterel mushrooms. In France I am sure they cost more than this.

I googled how to dry Morel mushrooms and there is a wealth of information out there on this. In this article Morels . Com, Morel Mushrooms World Wide I think Betty Heddens method looks best. Over here you buy them dry when out of season and rehydrate them. But I think Betty Heddens method in the above link would be even better.
