..Hmmm.....My 8 year old is a big strong boy for his age but suffers with the old mans nose and snuffles a bit at the best of times,All his life winter has meant bouts of croup and any cold or flu results in chest or throat infections as he's got older ....Could this type of thing be iherited...?

I would urge you to get his tonsils out! I don't think my son even stayed overnight in the hospital. He got lots of popsicles for a couple days and that was it. Like night and day. Just tell the dotors that his tonsils get enlarged evrytime he catches something and it interferes with his sleeping. I know what you mean about he constantly has a cold right after he gets over one, goes into bronchitis etc. Like night and day once his tonsils were removed.

much more sinus infections nowdays the kids do not get thier tonsils taken out any more.

Removal of tonsils has gradually fallen out of favor in todays medical world.:D

I'd forgotten about this....Well i think it's 8 months since the surgery and i think it was a waste of time....Maybe a little better on one side but left my nose feeling funny and very tender if you knock it..!

Sorry to hear the results weren't as good as hoped for.

D7E,

Give it time. It took about a year for mine to feel "right". I still have some problems, but have cut my sinus infections by about 80%. It takes a while for the swelling of the sinuses to go away.

Ditto..maybe even longer than a year. Use the saline solution often especially durring the first year or so..but keep using it after that!

Well i was warned that mine might not be as successful as some due to the many ignored broken noses years ago....I was advised to get them fixed at the time but it did'nt seem to matter then...Lots of cartilage damage..!

I like cotton ball that the specialist jams up your nose before he looks at you....I havent breathed that good for 15 years...Pity it only lasts 10 minutes..?
