| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? try the 000BUCK Magnum. All 5 balls penetrated 1in. plywood @ 50 feet for me. This weekend I will test the various loads(000, slug, sabot) on a washing machine. I only plan to load 000 for my purposes. I think the big draw of this weapon is the 000 round, sure you dont need to buy this Taurus to chamber 45LC. |

| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? I'm glad some people still believe that. I fortunately sold my "Judge" in one day. I don't have a .410 shotgun, but I'd positively never trust a .410 pistol for self defense! I must have some tough 1/4" plywood or that old ripped up down jacket was awfully tough because they sure stopped the 3" magnum buckshot rounds you talk about at no more than 5 paces. I have quiet a few firearms and like several of Taurus' products, but the idea of a .410 pistol for anything more than very small critter control is not advised.

| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? I saved my money and got a 500 magnum.. not as good of numbers as the 460 nitro express.. but I don't think the small difference will matter in a self defense situation

| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? I have been playing with the Judge a bit. The 000 buck sure works a lot better than the birdshot. It is an interesting toy though.
Soundguy, why didn't you get a big gun?

| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? I am also a fan of 1911 style pistols. I have a Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry, a few colts in .45 and a stainless 10MM Colt. As far as the Glocks go I just do not like them. I had one in 10MM, I forget the model # but I just do not like the safety or lack thereof.
The Glocks are great, reliable guns, just not my cup of tea. It's all a matter of personal preference.

| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? Sorry for being OT, but every time this thread bubbles to the surface I always think it's about some Ford Tarus SHO replacement. On the plus side, there is a replacement slated for 2010 for those interested, perhaps you could name one "The Judge"? |

John | I have well over a hundred pistols, including a dozen or so 1911 style. I'd have to say that they are my least favorite. The 1911 style is okay but, in my opinion, many companies have made advances in the last hundred years. When grabbing a pistol for personal protection, it's never a 1911 style.

| Re: Taurus "The Judge" or?? For personal protection I like the 12 GA home defender shotgun. For a carry gun I really like my Springfield XD 45 Compact. I have a 1911 but the XD feels better and holds 13 plus 1 rounds. |
