Following linked article will appear in this coming Sunday's New York Times print edition. EXCELLENT!!!.... that it is now receiving national attention. Sadly, TBNer Jim Youtz forecasted this would happen.

BTW, this evening Show Low received total evacuation orders.

Jim....take care of yourself and family. We're thinking of you.

Monstrous Show Low fire now on edge of town. Anybody heard from or keep in touch with TBNer Jim Youtz, wife Cindy, and family? They live in Show Low.

Got back in the house at 1900L yesterday. At least we have a house to go back to. Many people don't. Still on standby evacuation status due to "sneaking fires".

This fire is history. Time to turn our attention to the folks in Arizona and other areas. The Arizona fire is TWICE as large as the Hayman Co fire.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, and concern, but we are fine now. There are a bunch of folks hurting all over the west now due to wildfires.

Glad to hear you made it back and your home is ok. How much damage done to your neighborhood and community?

RockyMtn1...

Glad to hear you're OK and you have a home to go back to. Still trying to get hold of Jim Youtz. I have an e-mail into him but nothing back as of yet.

Well, I don't have much time to talk. But my family, home, etc... are OK. Lot's of activity around Show Low these past few weeks. Unfortunately it has all involved my agency and my job. My fire team was managing the Chediski fire for the first 5 days until we were replaced by a Type 1 incident management team. I then was assigned to the rehab team. I just spent 8.2 million bucks on seedmix and aircraft contracts to seed 175,000 acres. We are working 16 hour shifts for 14 days straight, so I haven't had any time to log on. My family was also evacuated for 11 days. All in all, the past month has been very busy for me. I'm going to bed now, but I will answer all questions in a few weeks when I have time for some leisurely browsing.

If your type I incident commander is Steve Freye you have a great guy working with you. Steve worked the Hayman Co. fire and should be back online now after some time off. I can tell you from first hand experience that this guy has great communication/people skills in addition to lots of fire fighting experience. He really knows what he is doing. If you see Steve tell him "hi" from Woodland Park, Co.
