Default No. 14 chair

As a part of my hobby - sharing useless information - I decided to post links to Thonet #14 history.

They are still produced today by bending beech wood to a metal form by hand and shipped worldwide.

Even the history of Michael Thonet is interesting.

There you go, some reading for wood craftsmen

Thanks. I had admired that chair design but did not know where it originated.

Ever sat in one? Doesn't look comfortable.

Vernon:

Same here, I always thought the design is stroke of a genius.

Donkey Shade:

After sitting on similar purpose chairs in American churches and schools etc. I have to say the # 14 is much more comfortable. I can't imagine selling 50+ millions of them if they were not.
