I am pretty sure that Michael Jacksons problems have a lot more to do with his pedophilia than his being black...

Re: Being Caucasian Isn\'t Worth The Risk.

>>Thirteen percent of the population but it don't matter cause there's two tokens out of a couple of hundred in his immediate staff.

You mean as opposed to Klinton who declares himself the first black president and then has 100% of the true inner circle of power as white (and mostly males) Klinton appointed a few token blacks...I would hardly call Powell and Rice token appointments...a token appt would be like Klinton did to do-nothing cabinent positions with no real power.

Why is it that those liberals that all profess to want a "color blind" society, walk into a room and start counting up the number of blacks/whites/gays/hispanic/lesbians etc and than compares them to some statisitical samples of the relevant population to see if there is any deviation from the norm...is this what you mean by a color-blind society...how about just hiring the best people for the job and letting them do it? Can you name a better choice of Secreatary of state and national security than powell and rice?

Re: Being Caucasian Isn\'t Worth The Risk.

Hey Harv,

Why is it that when conservatives have any minorities in their group, liberals demean them as "tokens" instead of praising them for their abilities or accomplishments? Oh yeah, minorities have no abilities or accomplishments, every success and everything they have they owe to some enlightened liberal who set up affirmative action programs.

Show me proof that a diverse cabinet is any more effective then one made up of a single race (regardless of what that race might be). Martin Luther King said that a man should be judged on the content of his soul NOT the color of his skin.

Re: Being Caucasian Isn\'t Worth The Risk.

The first thing we need to bring to this conversation was Dubya was the one to offer them as "tokens" to reflect his lack of racism.

The question was for a response by him to accusations of racism by black activists.

His response was to offer the names of two blacks in a meeting of his cabinet. He didn't offer a rebutal to the charge of racism. He offered up their nqmes as tokens of his non racism.

Powell is just one step lower than the vice president in my book as far as credibility goes. After all he was the first officer to officially investigate My Lai and write it off as a non event.

So we can't really commend Powell for anything other than being extremely adept at going along to get along. Of course his leader could write the book on how to do that.

I'm sure Rice is a nice person and very knowledgeable. But I don't see her doing anything but being a front when that is needed.

But still the bottom line is why would the President when questioned about racism retort with facts and figures instead of the names of his two African American cabinet members and his little boy smirk?

Re: Being Caucasian Isn\'t Worth The Risk.

"African Americans". What a fine creation of the liberal media. Why just last night my Canine Americans and Feline Americans were voicing discontent that they've fallen from "minority" status since the one turtle ran away and that leaves just one Reptile American in the tank and he's now the ruling minority. But in true Socialist...er... Democrat fashion the black Feline American lost interest and wanted me to provide him with his free meal. Sorry Harv, since I'm a converted liberal I couldn't resist a truely in fun dig at a still liberal.

Re: Being Caucasian Isn\'t Worth The Risk.

I really like the terms Native American, African American, etc.

Where I get the most mileage with them is in polite conversation here locally. Those aren't the terms of choice amongst so many of my compatriots. I'm truly a liberal in a conservative world./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

So when the "N" word is used those that know me will cringe a bit just from past experience. Then in a minute or two I'll find the opportunity to use the term "African American".

What is so hilarious about that is the affect it has on those who so enjoyed the use of the "N" word. They sorta get that look in their eyes like that stinker was wet and the smell isn't going away anytime soon./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Now I know none of my fellow TBN'rs would ever use that bad word. But some of my local conservative compatriots do. And since with them I've been forced to resort to terms like "African American" to keep them on edge I've just got used to using it. It's not really a liberal thing anyway. It's sorta like one of those polite things. You know, like referring to your wife as your CFO instead of "the old lady".

Re: Being Caucasian Isn\'t Worth The Risk.

I'm honestly surprised, didn't know they grew liberals down in Texas. Unless, maybe, perhaps...YOUR the token Democrat liberal of Wylie !! Now all your conservative friends can say "why hellyea... we got us one of them liberals, and we treat him real good". "In fact, the DNC has grant money so we can buy a few more".
Hmmm, things you don't hear on the History channel.
Being a liberal Democrat in Texas, I can see your desire for gun control...somebody might mistake you for a yankee and shoot your [censored].
