Chinese kids quads

I know someone will dissagree but..?
After good reports from friends and being a farm machinery/construction mechanic who rides competition bikes against my better judgement fell into the lure of chinese kids quads..
I thought i'd sussed them out pretty good on parts availability/Build quality and such because most of the dealers are shady as mine turned out to be so was'nt expecting the warranty to be worth ????
But my god.....Every bolt was cross threaded....Engine mounts lasted about a month..Snapped the throttle cable in a month..Electrical problems...Had to re drill and tap the brake calipers to the frame...From brand new the seat mount was broken so fabricated a new one...Carb constantly needs adjusting..! And embarrassingly i missed the fact that the electrics enter the casing an inch above the chain so if the chain gaets a bit slack it tears the wires out so had to make up a sprung chain tensioner..?
I hate to think what a person who was not "Mechanicaly minded" and had just bought little jonny his first quad would do....This is a big frame 110cc that an adult can ride but my 8 year old is wrecking it..?
That yamaha or kawasaki don't look so expensive now..????

Now you know better. Personally, I try to avoid anything made in China unless I have no other choice. It's nearly impossible these days. Sounds like with your background you should have known better...but those cheap prices have lured many away from Quality. I'm a firm believer in spending my money once.

I agree you have to be mechanically inclined or they wont be running 10% of the time. I bought two nearly three years ago for a Granddaughter and Grandson who were 7 years old at the time. I still have them for two more Granddaughters who are 9 years old. They haven't been treated rough at all as they are not the reckless type and speed is not everything to them. I've still had problems. The brake pads fell out while riding till I finally got everything bent just right. Plastic kill switch , starter switch and choke lever just crumbled. Replaced them with after market parts from Advance auto. Had to replace one battery and had to slime one tire as it was leaking through the tread which had no hole but a large area would bubble up like a worn out tire would when I put soap on it. I haven't had any trouble with the motors and for the price have been satisfied with them. If I didn't have anything to fix I wouldn't have anything to do.

I know i should know better but my experiences with chinese engines on grain augers in -30 temps have been faultless and have to admit that have started on days that the briggs won't and have run trouble free for years...I did'nt realize how badly these bike engines vibrate though ..My kid although 8 had suzukis and hondas before and he "Rides" them ..Piling up railway ties with sheet of ply wood...You can imagine.
I'm going to sell it now while it still looks good and has a "Warranty"..lol
There will be nothing left to weld to in a year...?
