Default Buying Ammo

Is California the only State that requires finger prints to buy handgun ammo?

so far as I know, no one else has passed a similar law - and from what I read the other day, the new Calif law doesn't go into effect until 1/1/2011. (but if I misread, I'd appreciate being corrected)

At 3 Walmarts, when I bought 9mm ammo and at Academy Sports when I bought .38 ammo, the only thing I showed them was the credit card I paid with.

Here in NY, you must show a pistol permit to buy handgun ammo; and you must be fingerprinted to get the permit.

I assume this means you can't buy ammo on-line and have it shipped to California? What about primers and reloading components?

I don't think I could live in California. Most of the stuff I love isn't legal there, and the stuff I don't like is legal. Go figure!

I agree with Bird. Just show the money in Texas, and be of proper age.

Why is it that all bad legislation starts in California and then infects the rest of the Country?
Not intended to be political, just a legitimate question.
