Oh, boy...This has been one heck of a week...

It all started on Friday. We noticed a sewage smell outside. Soon after, we noticed some sewage bubbling up on the lawn. We called the plumber but he could not come out immediately due to rain. When he did come out, he first found the lid to the septic tank (which we were never able to find).

A little background: We do not have a "septic", but rather the old septic tank is connected to the public sewer. The sewage is pumped up the road to the sewer main. The guy before us did not connect like everyone else did when they ran the the sewer since his septic was functioning properly. When it finally gave out, he had to run the line over the neighbors property and far up the road.

Getting back to the story...After waiting a couple days, we were "pumped out" yesterday (had to use our neighbors driveway for the truck). The plumber came shortly after and determined that we need a new pump. None of the suppliers were open by time he determined what we needed. After pulling some strings, he was able to get someone to go in even before they opened this morning...As I write, the plumber is here...Hope the problem is fixed soon because we have been without bathrooms since yesterday...

Now on to the electric...We recently had a electrician come out and do some work...over $2k worth of work. We basically got now service from the road to the panel (new main feed, breaker box, sub-panel, etc...). Anyway when my dad went to turn off the sewer pump, one of the first things he noticed was a 60 amp breaker on a 15 amp circuit among other problems...Now the owner of the electric company has come out with the guy who did the work...That should be interesting...

So anyway, this had been a real crazy couple of days...:confused2:

Well, we got the problems resolved...Almost...

The electricians fixed all the electrical problems they caused at no cost to us, and the plumbers fished installing the sewage pump...The only problem we still have is there is something wrong with the sewage pump alarm, but that will be fixed at a later date...

so... did the electrician fry the septic pump when they screwed up the electrical? Sounds like they might have sent 240vac to the 120vac septic pump and perhaps damaged the control board?

No, the exact opposite...They sent 120 volts to the 240 volt pump. They were probably only half responsible for killing the pump since when the pump was pulled it was really in bad shape (it was 17 years old)...
