Default value of 49 chevy panel van

Hi Guys,
Anyone out there know much about what a 49 chevy panel van might be worth? I was fishing on a private farm lake 2 wks. ago, and the farmer has one in great shape. Original
condition. Except paint. It says chevrolet 200 on front fenders. 3/4 ton???
Farmer says he parked it there in "97" with a flat tire, and removed the wheel for repair, and someone stole the wheel.
Says he never got around to replacing it since he did not use it much. Paint is bad, no rust, no dents, all original under hood. I will of course check for cracked block, etc. It has four tear drop lights on roof, one on each corner, with red lens.
Front and back. Old fire truck? Ambulance? Police wagon? School bus?
I would eventually restore it. Farmer says "make an offer
But if not what I want, you do not get a second chance. "
Ornery old guy at the least. Doesn't need the money. Probably not alot of these around, so thinking about offering
$1000.00. Farmer says take it as is. May run, may not. But
it did when I parked it. My mother has known him for years, and says he is very ornery, but very honest. Is $1000.00 too much, or too little? Says he has a clear title. License plate is 1997. Thanks for any opinions. Rick

Hi Rick, good to hear from you.

I did a quick Google seach on "49 chevy panel" and came up with this, among others...

A project, 49 Chevy 3800 Series panel truck. Lots of good parts and fairly good body. There are two units included in this deal, take both for more than enough parts, second unit is a 1952 Chevy 3800 Panel.

It's listed with a mate for $1400 here . Sounds fun, let us know how it turns out for you

Rick, here's a link to a 1949 Chevy Panel Van listed as poor condition for $900.

Rob and I found the same one.

The lights on the roof sound like regular clearance lights.

Rob & Mike,
WOW, Thanks guys!!! By the looks of the two vans you posted, this one should be worth at least $2000.00.
I don't believe the lights are clearance lights. They are about
4-5 inches diameter. Might be though. I hope to go back to the farm in a week or two for more fishing. I'll make an offer
then. He also has a "62" Falcon Ranchero. No motor or trans.
I had one about 25 years ago. I put a 390 c.i. v-8 in it with a
4 speed on the floor. 12 in. slicks and a 54 ford p.u. rear end.
straight pipes with 4 in. stacks right behind cab. Sounded awesome. Wife had to drive it to work one night in 4 in. of snow. "I was out of town with her car". My goodness such language!!!!! If I get the 49 chevy, I will most likely soup it
up with a 327, or 396 chevy v-8. Haven't told the wife yet.
She may change my plans. Thanks guys. Rick
