on another site i saw a link to a story from turner radio network.

a google search turned up no major news networks carrying a story that I could find ( mind you my work internet blocks many news sites ). only places like the examiner, guardian.. etc.. were showing up with stories on a steam plume from reactor 3 building.. perhaps fission occuring in spent pool area where fuel pelets may have collected?

can anyone confirm this on a more legitimate news source? I'm doing a NYE double.. and have not had access to real 'news' all day.

may be nothing and junky yellow-news sites..e tc...

Various anti nuke sites are interpreting a report saying that there has been steam coming from reactor three 3 times in Dec as "the reactor is melting down" See: http://translate.google.com/transla...ww.tepco.co.jp/nu-news/2013/1233248_5304.html for the original report.

SimplyInfo says the following:
http://www.fukuleaks.org/web/?p=11990 said:
There have been a number of unsubstantiated rumors going around about "new problems" at unit 3. Information is always better than rumor. We pulled the reactor data for the last week for unit 3. Temperatures are within expected and historical levels. Xenon 135 is monitored as an indicator of fission and is consistent at levels well below anything that would indicate anything outside of normal for the state of unit 3. The steam at unit 3 is a long ongoing problem and is not a new issue. We have been documenting it for months as can be found here.

Edit: Report on steam from the same place in July (confirming the SimplyInfo story):http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/nu/fukushima-np/handouts/2013/images/handouts_130724_05-e.pdf

thanks for the info.

on the downside. any radioactive steam release is still bad. I understand there is still water leakage to see / contamination taking place from rapidly constructed containment vessle's.

oh well.. article is correct. information is better than rumor!

thanks
