Hi, I have a low end 2hp air compressor for running small stuff, nail guns etc..

The problem is the pressure switch lets the psi drop to low before kicking in. It shuts off at 100# and kicks on at 70#.
I want it to kick in at 90#.

The presure switch has one screw and I've turned it up but it did not help much. The high end is now 120# which is where the pressure relief starts leaking a tad. The low is still down at 79-80# though.

What can I do to get the low end pressure up other than another switch?

If the switch is enclosed in a little metal box, there may be another adjustment screw inside. Unplug the unit and see if there's a way inside the box.

What brand is it? There may be a parts breakdown available on the web.

One thing to consider, the higher the pressure when the compresser starts, the harder it is on the motor and the more current it would draw. Starting at 90 PIS may shorten the units life.

I looked it over again last night and did not see another adjustment.

The compressor is a Central Pneumatic from Harbor Freight.

I'm not worried about wearing it out sooner since I have a decent 220v 5hp 60gal in the shop. Its' also out of warrantee. The CP was bought cause it was cheap, 110v and portable.
