Thanks Muhammad,
I think I'll just take you up on that little deal. Although the wife and I are headed for our first vacation in seven years. We are going for a five day western carribbean cruise over Valentine's Day. Decided we weren't getting gifts since we got the cruise but I'm sure she wouldn't mind a little perfume!! Thanks again for the discount.

Well Randy, I'm never permitted to forget Valentine's day (we were engaged on that day). But my wife always just enjoys the old tried and true: dinner out, kids with sitter, glass of wine, a red rose, and a shiny new piece of jewelry. Works every year for me.

Thanks for the hint Pete! 8-)

Time to get the card and candy. I'm lucky the Wifey likes the cheaper chocolate with nuts instead of the truffles. She does not like jewlrey and stinky stuff to put on either. Guess that is why I married her! 8-)

Later...

I get the standard card and a little candy on Valentines Day but put a picture of a new perennial flower or tree's to plant in the spring. That way she gets a gift in the spring every year. I built a rock garden the first year we were here and have been adding to it ever since. We love to be able to go out and cut our own flowers especially since my four year old thinks it great to take Mom flowers!!!!(bugs and all)
Take care and good luck,
Al

The best gift I ever got my wife was a tombstone. Not for her!

Her grandmother, who passed away several years ago, is buried here on our land. For many years, her only marker was a broken fragment of marble. Last year I visited the stone cutters down in Barre Town and commissioned a really nice memorial made of Vermont granite. Brought it home and slid it into the bucket loader, then moved it over Gram's grave.

When Tam found it a couple of days later she screamed with joy, and hugged me for days! Wives are very emotional; guess I'm finally figuring that out.

This probably sounds kind of sappy, but....

Every year I get my wife a "day at the spa" for Valentines. Complete hair style, facial, nails, the works.....all the stuff women really seem to like in a nice one day deal. Then, after she's all spiffed up, we go to a nice place for dinner so she can kind of show off a bit. Must be OK 'cause I'm definitely not the best looking guy and surely not the richest guy in town and she's let me stay around for all these years.

Yeah, Dan, my wife likes those chocolates, too (and so do I). And since Russell Stover built a new candy factory here a couple of years ago, complete with an outlet store, the price is a lot better, too. And if you go in their outlet store the week or two after Valentine's Day, you can buy the candy in all those fancy boxes for about 25% of what they cost in the stores.

Fortunately my wife agrees with my viewpoint on Valentine's day. I figure I don't need a special day to buy her flowers, so I try really hard to do those "nice things" for her through out the year (at least every other month). Thus we never really do much specifically for each other on Valentines day. Keeps us close through out the year....and as Bird said it allows me to pay 25% of the cost that I would pay if I waited until Valentines day. Have you seen the price of a dozen roses on Valentines day???? Practically the cost of a good used implement!!!
