Sales records for GM in China

General Motors (NYSE:GM) reports it set a record with June and first half deliveries in China.

June deliveries were up 11.2% to 273,563 units.

The Cadillac brand stood out with a 34% Y/Y pop.

Deliveries for the first six months of the year increased 5.3% to 1,810,476 units off of strong demand across the Buick, Baojun, and Wuling brands.

GM is trading flat in the premarket session at $28.38.

In the area of China we visited, owning a Buick was big deal and considered a luxury/status car. This supposedly started before WWII and the idea survived inspite of the Communist Party which I thought was interesting.

GM China sets annual selling record

General Motors (NYSE:GM) says it delivered a total of 3,870,587 vehicles in China during 2016, up 7.1% from 2015. GM launched 13 new and refreshed models during the year.

GM sells Baojun, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Jiefang and Wuling branded vehicles in China through various joint ventures.

Shares of GM rose 5.1% yesterday after U.S. sales growth impressed.



Many consider Ford and GM "American" companies, while certain Toyota/Kentucky vehicles have a higher made-in-North-America content than anything from Ford and GM.

The Buick Envision sold in the US is built in China. I have heard a plug in hybrid Cadillac will also be exported to the US. Hard to imagine a Cadillac driver buying a car made in China.

I'm picturing chinese drivers in cadillacs. I wonder if they pimp them out over there with gold rims and stereos like they do here.

Ford ends 2016 on a high note in China

Ford (NYSE:F) reports sales in China increased 23% in November to 149,856 units.

Sales for the Changan Ford Automobile JV rose 19% to 115,654 vehicles.

Sales for the Jiangling Motor Corporation JV jumped 28% to 32,913 vehicles.

The automaker ended the year with continued strong demand for SUV models Edge and Explorer.

2016 Ford China sales +14% to 1.272M.
