Last couple of weeks been taking slow stroll in the woods checking on trees need removing also how soft ground is for tractoring, yesterday was the worst 12 deer ticks needed to be remove from me :( good year for ticks not good year for us.

How's the ticks in your area?

It's been the worst year we've seen. But most of our ticks are the dog tick. Now there's the new Powassan disease which is worse than Lyme disease.

We got them in the Northern NY also, some areas worse than others.I can treat my dogs but nothing for us.Permathrin (spelling?) on clothing helps a lot.

Good call nybirdman. Treating clothing with Permethrin is a great way to fend off the little b&%$*!&$ and at the end of the day we must do thorough check for any that may have contacted skin. You can even get clothing that is pretreated for those that don't want the hassle of sprays. We are seeing them all over Western NY in places you would never have thought.

They are bad here also. They are extremely small; I can't get near the creek without getting 2 or 3 of the little buggers.

The woods and overgrown fields here in ne PA are crawling with them. Even back in February my Golden and I couldn't come back from a walk with finding ticks on us.

Its been too wet & cool, so far, for any ticks. The only tick we get here are wood ticks. However, if this springs mosquito rampage is any indication, we are in for one almighty tick year also.

Pyretherin, I mix it up by the gallon and put it in a garden sprayer. Dog's, clothes, boots & standing water all get a dose. (as suggested on the label)
It's a flower (Chrysanthemum) based insecticide.

Same here. I dilute is and treat socks and pants with it. Great for chiggers, too.

Tried Pyretherin once but it was a hassle. Just use Off now. Spray generously especially below knees.

End of Deer tick season and beginning of Wood tick season. A nonstop problem. Bitten on arm few years ago by Deer tick, took 18 months to heal. Nasty little creatures!
