Who are you people

/ Who are you people #21
My wife of 24 years and I were both born and raised within 300 yds of where we currently live. Bought a house 20 years ago 1/2 mile away. Granny passed away last year so I bought part of the family farm (including the house and outbuildings). Our sons 23 (Mechanical Engineer) and 21 (working on 4 yr I.S. degree) are living in our first house. (So much for renting it out to pay for the farm /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

Worked in the Quality aspect of the Manufacturing Industry for 23 of my 43 years on this planet. Now part-time farming when I get home from my REAL job, and trying to remember what I learned 30 years ago when working on the neighbors farm. So far have 4 goats and 8 chickens.

I have a great wife. Everytime I tell her I think I need a bigger or another tractor she says "Well go get it!" To bad money doesn't grow on trees. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm hoping to make enough on the animals, 10 acres of corn, and 200 acres of hay to retire on and maintain my standard of living. Ha-ha-ha-Ho-ho-ho /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I've got to stop that...it hurts when I laugh so hard /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Born and raised in Kansas City....worked as a welder for a company that straightened and repaired wrecked and damaged frames of tractor-trailers. Got drafted and then stayed in the military for a little over 20 years.

Went to work as a district sales manager for a company selling to the military and did that for 10 years until the company downsized. Been semi-retired and doing short term projects for the military since 2001. Currently working as a Training Tech at Ft Leonard Wood.

But I'm bored...........trying to get into a full time security position with the military but I think they think I'm too old. MY tripple by-pass last year has them nervous so I have to get clearance from my doctor before I can take the PT test.

Both the wife and I are retired military ( USAF ) .
She was in data automation and I was in Acft electrical .
She's now working for PPG as a systems analylist , and I'm a framer on pole buildings . thinking about getting a job as a greeter at Walmart ,as at 56 hauling and climbing is getting the best of me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Actually I doubt if I would want to do anything else . Yup the work can be back breaking . But the satisfaction recieved from a job done well and a happy client is hard to beat . John

Born in Vermont stayed there thru High School. Joined the Navy for what I thought was going to be a short time. Stayed 20!!!! Chased submarines all over the world and had a great time. Meet my better half in Florida over a home cooked meal. Best meal I ever had! Had are first son in Iceland and our second here in Vermont. I'm a stay at home Dad now for seven years. Love it most days and other days it pays to have a lot of patience!!!! We have a big garden every year and a small maple syrup operation that is contining to grow to about 150 taps next year with 250 the goal. One of my great joys in life is going to the woods and hearing the sap hit the bottom of the bucket!!! Love my NH1720 and giving the boys a ride on our 23 acres of heaven.
Thanks for taking the time to make your inputs. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was raised near Cincy Ohio. Went to Miami University (Ohio), graduated with business degree and a minor in “decision sciences”. I grew up a Bengals fan and will stay a fan. I have to stay a fan... the worse is (hopefully) behind them finally.

Moved about a bit and got into the financial industry in 1986 til now as a broker. We’re independent, so have the flexibility to do what we feel is 100% right for someone without having to worry about company politics.

(Warning, advertisement??: for example, we have an investment that will NEVER go down, and has its returns tied to the S&P 500 index, so you get the upside potential of the market, yet none, zero, nada, zippo of the downside risk)

Oh… and because we’re knuckleheads that do our own thing, I can take Otis into the office with me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Met wife 1989, this August will be our 3rd wedding anniversary (don’t ask)

We’ve traveled our fair share and currently live out in the boonies…something this “city boy” never saw himself doing.

And I like it /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Since I do not own a tractor per se, I've always felt a bit "outsider'ish" on this site. I've gotten over that over time, since what I DO own, is nothing other than a CUT on sterioids. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oh... and I found "TBN" back when it was "Kubota.com" days. I think we used punchcards back then to post our messages /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am retired USAF, and curently employed as an Electronic Technician with a large semi-conductor manufacturer, making a one-way commute of 70 miles, 4 days a weeek ("They" keep wishing for 5, I keep wishing for 3).

I "have" to work at a good paying job for at least 6 more years, until my house is paid for, then all bets are off.

After that you may find me at the front door of some Wal-Mart handing out little pink sticker... but don't count on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm 46, with a wife of 47 (we've only been married for 28 years) and three sons, ages 25, 23 and 19 (still in college).
