Is that how an inline four would normally be sequenced? With two sets of two cylinders firing together?

Chuck if you look again I don't believe that any two cylinders fire at once. That way the engine runs smoother. It is true that 2 cylinders do reach TDC at the same time but one is exhausting wile the other is firing.

A standard inline 4 cylinder 4 cycle has 1 and 4 coming to TDC together and 2 and 3 moveing together. The fireing order however would be 1,3,4,2.
