Yesterday I worked. Then went home. Saw a stump in the wooded part of my yard. Got the ancient, consumer grade Homelite chainsaw out and cut the stump off. Noticed pull cord wouldn't retract all the way.

Fifteen minutes later I got the whole chainsaw spread out all over my workbench. I cleaned it up. Spent four times longer to get it all back together than it did to take it apart.

Took it outside and gave the cord a tug and it fired right up (always has, even though it is at least 15 years old and by all accounts a piece of junk). Ran for a a second. Then died. Wouldn't start for anything. Quite obviously I'd messed something up. About 15 minutes later I remembered what I'd done wrong.

I'd let it run out of gas. Filled it up, and it runs like champ.

I think I'll stick to fixing people rather than chainsaws.
OK as long as you don't try fixing them with chain saws.

Yesterday the wife and I went with a group of friends hiking in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. It was a great day to be out. A lot of the wildflowers were in bloom. We hiked to a nice overlook, then back for a late lunch.

I'm just a little sore and stiff today.

I already pretty much know today's schedule.

Church
Lunch
The dreaded trip to the grocery store
relax

1* Tutored my wife on operating the BX23 FEL.
She didn't do bad for a first timer.
Kinda slow but still faster than a shovel. Can't brag on her though cause it don't take to much to beat a shovel .LOL
Told her I was glad I wasn't paying her $40 an hour for moving dirt.
2* Finished back filling over the 60 foot of 6'' drain pipe then planted grass seed and covered with straw.
3* Mowed the back one-third of my property that I grubbed off winter before last.
This is the first time in 25 or 30 years this piece of my land has been cleared off and mowed off at the same time.

Who else done something today?

I planted 75 potatoe hills today. So I should have plenty of potatoes this winter. Just got to make sure I don't get the grubs eating them from underneath this year like last year.

Went to my local Washington County Fairgrounds and watched a couple races featuring antique midget race cars.

The event was put on by the Antique Auto Racing Association.
