Default Troy Bilt Junior Free Wheel?

Got a new to me TB Junior this week, and am new to tilling so I have to get used to the machine. I believe this model is a 1987 (or close to it) because the factory stickers on the tine guard say 1987 in a couple different spots. Havn't looked it up by serial# yet though.

Anyway, the directions on the sticker talk about putting it in "freewheel" but don't say how to do it. Anyone have a JR that can tell me how to do this?

Also need to get the owners manual for this model...are they available on any websites?

    Thanks,

If you look at the wheel where the axle passes through you'll see the wheel has a pin that holds it on the axle , simply remove the pin and push the wheel in towards the case and insert the pin in the AXLE only, repeat for the other side and you're in freewheel.

Depending on how the machine was stored the wheel may be rusted to the axle, if that is the case I would try a bunch of penetrating oil , maybe a few bumps around the wheel then just put the pins in your pocket and till with it a little it should break loose.

They are great little tillers, I have an '88 model since new.

Thanks guys for the instructions and offer to email the info, when I get a chance I will attempt the free wheel. If you have any information on replacement drive belts I would sure be indebted. Last week my drive belt shredded, but not before I got some awesome tilling in (I then had to drive the tiller in reverse back up on my truck by 2x10 ramps, a little precarious). I LOVE this little tiller.
