76 troybuilt horse gear oil
I have a 76 troybuilt horse tiller and have 2 questions. Where is the drain for the gear oil located i know where the vent is and where the fill is but where is the drain. Also what type of gear oil is ok everything I can find is gl5. If it says it is yellow metal safe. I was thinking royal purple synthetic.

Re: 76 troybuilt horse gear oil
This might be cheaper than Royal Purple. Reportedly for bronze bearings, AKA, "Yellow Metal".

140 weight oil is what you need, the drain plug is on the side of the transmission case below one of the axles I think
Re: 76 troybuilt horse gear oil
I have 1976 Horse that I bought new. I also have the original owners manual which specifies that either 90 or 140 weight oil can be used. I've always used 90 weight. Honestly, there's no reason to change the transmission oil unless the existing oil is contaminated with water or whatever.
The drain plug is located under the left axle. You NEED to join this group.
