    Default 1981 Troybilt Horse....recoil starter

My recoil starter has never worked right. I took it apart and cleaned and oiled the mechanism, used loctite on the little bolt and it worked OK for a short while. I took it apart today and it has "grenaded" inside the housing. Its on a 7hp Kohler which starts on the first pull everytime so my question is: Has anyone ever converted it over to the old style rope and pulley? I've had enough of the tempermental recoil starter!

On some of the 7-8 HP K-series, if your remove the recoil from the blower housing the old rope pulley is built into the cup that the recoil previously used.
