This old beauty has tilled our garden for years, but this year both wheel seals and front seal are leaking so bad I have to replace all 3 seals. I finally forced off the rusted in place wheels by welding on 5/8 nuts to the outside of the hubs and running a 5/8 bolt against the shaft.
The front seal (hidden under the pulley) is another story. The 2 vertical posts that the motor slides up and down on are frozen in place - I removed the locking bolt/nut, shot lots of penetrating oil wherever it could go, finally resorted to a 4 lb sledge to the top of each post and yet not a budge.
I even thought to take off the motor to access it with the motor mount still in place, but, after removing the bolt holding on the motor pulley and reversing disc - it's frozen in place and there's not much to pry safely against.
Surely this is a common set of problems, any solutions out there?
thanks.
