I bought a 300 gal. gas tank w/ stand, hose, nozzle and filter holder (gravity feed, no pump). Was thinking of cleaning it up and storing some gas or diesel away, with prices soaring. Nice just to have the fuel on my property, especially with winter coming.
Question: How do I clean out the inside, to make sure no rust, etc., comes through?
Any kind of filters best?
How long can I store fuel this way & still be good to use?
Can you really save money this way?
Any other info?
Thanks.

How many gallons of diesel do you go thru a month? 150 gallons?

Gasoline shelf life...
Gasoline Shelf Life

Amount of storage allowed without being a farm...
How to handle, store, and dispose of gasoline safely.

In the long run...I'd say NO...I keep enough diesel on my farm for 1 to 2 months operation...depending on equipment utilization

Hey, I'm really interested in finding out some more about the gas question.
