Went to $3.25 9/10 here in McKean county Pa. today. Was $3.14 9/10
yesterday. WHERE's the SHORTAGE to justify these prices?

I remember it going from $0.59 in August of '78, to $0.99 one month later. That was a 67% increase in only 4 weeks. I remember it being $0.19 around 1959 and $0.39 around 1966. I wonder is what the lowest Bird ever saw it as a kid?

I started driving in 1962 and the "gas wars" were going on between Gulf and Sunoco. I was paying $12.9 for Gulftane at the station on a main intersection that had 4 stations on it, Gulf, Sunoco, Esso, and Sinclair. I worked at the Sinclair but the boss made his $$ in the repair business and only had gas when the dealer rep made him put some in the tanks.

As Archie Bunker said "Those were the days" Paid $1.00 an hour and could fill the tank for 2 hours work.

The "shortage" can be found right in the US. The US is not self sufficient in oil. Therefore, millions of barrels are imported daily to satisfy local demand and paid for with $$$ that are becoming less desirable in the world markets. It follows that prices will continue to skyrocket.

Why would any foreign country sell oil to the US at less than world prices, just so US citizens can use more than anyone else and pay cheap prices?

It is a commodity, there doesn't have to be a shortage... just a perception of a possibility that there might be a potential one ;) Some think there is an oil bubble and will burst eventually.... like after oil hits $120 or $130 a barrel.
