I was a scout way back in the 50's. Now I'm a counselor teaching scouts what they need for gardening, and forestry merit badges. We have a great time at my farm each year doing forestry things. I have a small camping area on the back 40 that I let the scouts use as a campground several times each year.

Eagle scout from the late 80's also here. Made it to Philmont and the national jamboree twice. Definitely created some great memories.

Ive put alot of time into everything ive done for the scouts and dont regret a second of it, if anyone is interested i can continue the whole story of pipestone or direct you where to learn more about it it really can be interesting just because of the native backround of it. by the way, there was somthing i saw awhile ago about getting together a national registry for eagle scouts, anyone know anything about it? i sent my information in and i dont remember getting anything back or if i was supposed to do anything following that or what. well hope everyones having a good night i need to get some sleep, the past 2 hours flew past

The pipestone organization sounds the same as the Order of The Arrow which is an honor camper service organization which is a big part of Scouting everywhere I've seen scouts.

That registry you speak of seems to be a scam to me. I think it works like the Who's Who in high school. They want to sell you a copy of the registry with your name in it. I called the number on the card to let them know I didn't earn Eagle and they couldn't get off the phone quick enough then they realized I wouldn't be buying anything.

Am back from scout camp, it was great.
Sunday started with a good rainstorm, but the tents did their job and the boys went out and got soaked like boys do. The rest of the week was really nice, and it got cool at night for some good sleeping.
recommend all get their 11-18 yr old boys in scouts.
Actually, 14+ girls can join venture crews which is coed, several of the instructors and helpers at camp were venture girls.

I was a Cub Scout for a year in the early '70's.
Went on a 250 mile bike ride with my Uncle(Scoutmaster) when I was 12
Was Cub Scout Den leader for my son in Bear, Wolf, Webelo-1, and Webelo 2nd year
Am on 3rd year as Asst Scoutmaster
Attended Woodbadge training a month ago; working on tickets
First Aid, Fire Safety, Oceanography merit badge counselor

We just got back from camp. We went to Resident Camp at Camp Meriwether, near Tillamook Or. That was a nice 10 hour drive Great camp though. Got to see my uncle on the way; he has done about everything there is to do in Scouting since 1943, as a Cub Scout, through Boy Scouts, to Scoutmaster, to Committee member etc.

My son is finishing a couple merit badge requirements for Star. He's Patrol Leader right now.

My Sister is a Cubmaster nearby...
