Hi,

I am looking for a side by side working / hauling utility ATV like a Kawasaki Mule, JD Gator and Polaris Ranger. But I found the Koyker Raptor to be more interesting than those.

Specs at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://koykermfg.com/Raptors.htm>http://koykermfg.com/Raptors.htm</A>

Has anyone here any experience with them? I know Koyker is a good company for FEL's and Back Hoes, but...ATV's? Take a look at the 4000 series, it has 4 wheel hydraulic drive.

Thanks!

I'm looking for such a vehicle also. I was wondering if you found out anything about the price.

Interesting specs. Clearly states 25HP v-twin and 20HP in another place. Not sure which it might be.

I think the gator is 18HP. One will have to wonder how well they will hold up, physically, as well as re-sale value.

I have seen an optionless price for the 4000H as $8900 retail. A place in TX has a list price with some options of $9700. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.raptoruv.com>http://www.raptoruv.com</A>

The HP is a little confusing in the specs. I think that the 4000H is 25 Hp and the 1000M and 2000H are both 20 Hp. But, like I said, that's just my thoughts. I will be seeing a 4000H tomorrow and will let you know more then.

John, can't help you on the Raptor, but can give you info on utility vehicles. I looked at the Mule, Polaris Ranger, Gator, Club Car Pioneer, and the EZ-Go Workhorse. After comparing all the features, the EZ-Go Workhorse 480 fit my needs better than the others. There was nothing wrong with the others, but considering all the features that came on them, along with the price, the EZ-Go worked out better for me. I have about 5 hours on it so far, and am satisfied.

Based on info I found on the internet, I created a spread sheet comparing the ones listed above. I would be happy to send it to you or anyone else who is interested. The spread sheet is Lotus, but I should be able to send it in a flat file. Not sure if it can be cut and pasted into a reply here (spacing between columns could be a problem). If someone knows how to post it here, and is interested, tell me and I'll be glad to post it.

Link to EZ-Go: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.workhorsest.com/vehicles/sport/main.htm>http://www.workhorsest.com/vehicles/sport/main.htm</A>

Bob

The comparisons I made were on engine, cooling, 2wd/4wd, ground clearance, bed capacity, towing capacity, brakes, seating, bumpers, skid plates, weight, and MSRP.

Thanks Bob!

You can post a file, the instructions are in the FAQ. But as I recall, when making a reply, there is a box to attach a file. YUP, just checked it. Just click on "browse" and go to your file.

I did test run a Raptor Saturday. It was a very good utility vehicle. I bet it would be the last one to get stuck, due to the 15+ inches of ground clearance. The stiff suspension gave it a firm ride, but that is the tradeoff for more load capability. It was easy to run on a gravel road and on a dirt bike trail, but you would have to wear hearing protection to ride it for a long time. It is just as noisy as a 25 hp lawnmower. That's knock #1. Also the wiring is not up to ATV standards. No automotive style waterproof connectors, just crimp terminators. I can see the corrosion critters just waiting to turn that non-marine grade wire a fine shade of green! That's knock #3. I'm told there is a "quite kit" coming out soon. (t might eliminate knock #1) The dealer will send that information to me. It can be passed on if there is interest.

If you still can, I'd appreciate seeing your spreadsheet. Also, do you have any additional info from the dealer addressing any of your knocks,
Thanks,

I just got me my ATV vehicle this weekend. I looked at the little MULE ($5,200), the GATOR 2x4 ($5,400), and the POLARIS ($8,400). I ended up buying a 1998 CLUB CAR golf cart for $1,700). I have taken it through the pastures and through the trails in the woods and it does great. I'm adding a rear seat that flips down to make a cargo bed. They said it will haul as much as the little Mule. The one thing I noticed about the golf cart-- the seat and the ride are so much nicer than those other ATVs. Later I may add a lift kit and big knobby tires to do some serious off roading.

If any knows of a place to find parts for these things I would really appreciate it...looking for a steering shaft.
Thanks
