Why is there an Ammo Shortage ?
I don't see any excuse for that.

you live in America right?

this the home of supply and demand and if i can create an artificial supply shortage, then i can jack up the price of my product.

Think of the stockholders!

I just bought a brick of Remington 22 HP's and had to pay almost $30! Wally World didn't have any.

I shoot a lot of 22's and always have a couple of bricks on hand and I always shoot the same cartridges so that's the reason for the Remington HP's......They usually are sold everywhere. I don't like to re-zero my guns when changing ammo.

I have a short barrel High Std. Sentinel that I use for trapping and the ocassional snake. It is surprisingly accurate for a cheap short barreled gun and it is light weight with the alloy frame.

The must be a heck of a lot of demand as I've never seen it like this for so long too. My buddies were discussing investments over the lunch hour and I didn't say a word until they ask me what I invest in. I told them guns, ammo, whiskey and silver and I don't trust anything that is on paper. Look what has happened in the past year. And I don't think we have seen the end of it yet. If this country doesn't return to those things that made this country strong, I'm afraid that society will deteriorate into anarchy and then my investments will hold their value unlike stock in the old GMC. Huddda thunk that their stock which was once a blue chip, would be worthless now.........I did. I could see that they were going down a rat hole..........just like our government is today.

Lets keep the politics out of this discussion. All I wanted to know was if there is a shortage of 22LR, not the reasons why. Thanks.

Do you not read the news? Do you not read almost every post on TBN every day? This subject in general has been discussed several times. All I wanted to know was if it was affecting the popular 22LR as well.

I did not know they were doing that with shotgun shells anywhere and don't think they are here, but they are doing it with pistol ammo when they even have any. There's also a public shooting range in the area that limits sales of ammo to two boxes per day per caliber per shooter. At least last week, they were cheaper than BassPro and Cabela's which is the only other place I've found that had any .38 spl. ammo at any price.

I found a local gun shop that says he has bricks of 22LR for around $20.00. That's not too bad. 4 cents a poke. When I was a kid they were 2 cents a poke. So, they have only doubled in 30 years. A couple other gun shops want $30.00 for 500. I will check him out tomorrow.

After I get the .22LR under control I want to look for some .45 for my dad's 1911. That should be fun to try and find.

I've been in 7 different Walmarts last month and while they only had relatively small quantities, they usually had .40 S&W, .45. .357 Sig, and .357 magnum ammo; just no 9mm or .38.
