A seasonal memory from my wife:

"Some time before Christmas, my mom would have her "Bachelor Dinner". She'd invite all the old bachelor farmers and they'd show up in their Sunday best for meatballs and gravy, lefse and romme grot. There'd be John Tweiten, The Magneson Kids (no kidding!), Ted Nordgarten and The Stoe Boys. They always sort of reminded me of a bunch of friendly old Whiskey Jacks in grey flannel shirts. My dad had been a bachelor for 45 years before my mom snagged him and I think she always felts she needed to let his old buddies know they weren't forgotten."

Anybody else?
