We had a couple of decent size brush piles left from fence building last summer, and tonight was perfect weather for burning. No wind, temp dipping down below freezing as the sun went down.

My wife is just visible in the left side of the pics. She's nearly 6 feet tall, so that'll give you a better perspective.

It's hard to believe the amount of heat a fire like that radiates. Getting closer than about 15 feet was impossible for a while.

It was a mixture of dried spruce boughs, old fence posts, and maple limbs.

I think I cooked the anti-reflective coating on me spectacles with this one..:laughing:

It lit up our little corner of the northern hemisphere for a couple of hours. My initial concern that it might be still too damp to catch was soon laid to rest.

An empty cat food bag stuffed with shredded paper, went up like a Roman candle once it got started !
